Experts Urge Verification When Using ChatGPT for News and Research

By The South Asia Times

WASHINGTON - ChatGPT, the AI-powered language model, has proven to be a useful tool for writing and research across a wide range of topics. Analysts say it can provide quick summaries, story drafts, and explanations, making it a valuable aid for students, journalists, and professionals.

However, experts caution that ChatGPT cannot always be fully trusted for accurate or up-to-date information. Users are advised to double-check facts, especially names, titles, and official designations. For instance, ChatGPT may still refer to Donald Trump as fromer president while he is sitting president of the United States.

Similarly, while the current British Prime Minister is Keir Starmer, the AI sometimes returns outdated information such as Rishi Sunak.

“While ChatGPT is a powerful assistant, it is not a substitute for verification,” said experts. “Whenever you use AI-generated content, particularly for news or official reporting, it is essential to cross-check every detail before publication.”

This reminder underscores the importance of human oversight in the age of AI-generated content, ensuring that readers and audiences receive accurate and reliable information.
