UAE President Arrives in Pakistan on First Official Visit, Receives Warm Welcome

By The South Asia Times

Islamabad — United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Pakistan on Friday on his first official visit to the country, receiving a warm welcome at the airport as Islamabad seeks to further strengthen longstanding bilateral ties.

Sheikh Mohamed, who is also the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, arrived at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior officials.

Senior Pakistani leadership including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief and Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Asim Munir and officials were present to receive the UAE president on arrival.

A day earlier, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the visit marks Sheikh Mohamed’s first trip to Pakistan since assuming office as UAE president, underscoring the importance both sides attach to their “brotherly relations.”

During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with discussions expected to cover the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The Foreign Office said the visit provides an important opportunity to further deepen ties between the two countries and reflects a shared commitment to expanding collaboration in key areas, including trade, investment, energy, development, and regional stability.

Pakistan and the UAE have traditionally enjoyed close political, economic, and people-to-people relations, with the Gulf state remaining one of Pakistan’s key partners in the region.
