Pakistan Condemns Israeli Move on Somaliland, Reaffirms Support for Somalia’s Sovereignty

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Saturday strongly condemned Israeli attempts to undermine the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia and rejected Israel’s announcement recognising the independence of the so-called Somaliland region of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad described the move as illegal and provocative, saying it constituted a flagrant violation of international law and posed serious risks to peace and stability not only in Somalia but across the wider region.

“Such actions threaten the peace and stability of the brotherly country of Somalia and the entire region,” the Foreign Office said, urging the international community to reject the move and take steps to prevent and deter actions that undermine ongoing efforts for regional peace and stability.

Pakistan reiterated its full and unequivocal support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, reaffirming its backing for all initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the country.

The Foreign Office statement also reiterated Pakistan’s firm rejection of any steps aimed at the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land under any circumstances. Islamabad reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their just struggle for self-determination and for the establishment of a sovereign, independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Pakistan has consistently supported Somalia’s internationally recognised borders and has opposed unilateral actions that challenge the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity enshrined in international law.
