Islamabad – Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday rejected media reports claiming that a Pakistani national had been arrested in the United States with a cache of guns and ammunition linked to a planned mass shooting.

“According to our inquiry and information, he is not a Pakistani national or of Pakistani origin. He is Afghan, who spent a few years as a refugee before moving to the U.S., where he has lived most of his life,” said ministry spokesman Tahir Andarabi.

The clarification comes after earlier New York Post reported that a University of Delaware student of Pakistani origin, Luqmaan Khan, 25, had been detained with firearms, body armor, and a manifesto allegedly outlining plans to “kill all” and achieve “martyrdom” through a campus attack. Khan was arrested on November 24 in a park in Wilmington, Delaware, after police found him acting suspiciously in his pickup truck.

Following the arrest, authorities raided Khan’s home, uncovering an AR-style rifle with a red-dot scope and a Glock pistol illegally modified to fire fully automatic rounds. New Castle County Police confirmed that Khan was born in Pakistan but has lived in the U.S. since youth and holds American citizenship.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry stressed that the individual has no connection to Pakistan and urged the media to verify facts before reporting.
