Pakistan Armed Forces Undergoing Major Multi-Domain Transformation: MIlitary Chief

By Imran Nasir

ISLAMABAD -  Pakistan’s Armed Forces are undergoing a major transformation across multiple domains to adapt to the evolving character of warfare, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Force (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said on Thursday during a visit to Bahawalpur Garrison.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS & CDF was briefed on operational, training and administrative matters of the Corps, with particular emphasis on preparations for multi-domain warfare.

He also witnessed a high-intensity field exercise, “Steadfast Resolve,” at Khairpur Tamewali, which showcased the integration of niche technologies including unmanned aerial systems, advanced surveillance platforms, electronic warfare assets and modern command-and-control mechanisms.

ISPR said the exercise reflected the Armed Forces’ growing focus on technology-enabled operations and future battlefield readiness.

Addressing troops, Field Marshal Asim Munir praised their high morale, professionalism and operational preparedness, reaffirming that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully capable of defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats. He stressed the need for sustained readiness to meet emerging security challenges.

Highlighting the rapid evolution in the character of war, the COAS & CDF said technological advancements are fundamentally reshaping military operations, requiring a corresponding mental and doctrinal shift at all levels.

He noted that future conflicts would increasingly rely on technological manoeuvres rather than traditional physical ones, altering both offensive and defensive strategies.

“In this context, the Pakistan Armed Forces are embracing and absorbing technology at a rapid pace, with innovation, indigenisation and adaptation remaining central to this transformation,” ISPR quoted him as saying.

During the visit, the army chief also inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP) to promote digital skills, particularly among students from Southern Punjab and other parts of the country. He additionally inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to quality education and character building.

Later, he visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance regimes aimed at sustaining modern military platforms through advanced technologies, indigenisation and enhanced combat support measures.

Earlier, upon arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, the COAS & CDF was received by the Commander Bahawalpur Corps. He laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs.
