Pakistan voices concern after nationals injured in UAE port incident

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has expressed deep concern after civilians, including Pakistani nationals, were injured in an incident at Khor Fakkan Port in the United Arab Emirates.

The injuries were caused by an intercepted projectile that struck near the port area, highlighting the spillover risks of ongoing regional tensions.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact number of Pakistani nationals injured, but confirmed that multiple civilians were affected.

In a statement, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, "We pray for the swift recovery of the injured and remain in close contact with UAE authorities to ensure all necessary support is extended to our citizens."

Sharif also reaffirmed solidarity with the people of the UAE.

The incident comes amid heightened instability in the wider Middle East, where escalating military exchanges have raised concerns about the safety of civilian infrastructure and international shipping routes.

Strategic locations such as ports have increasingly come under threat due to missile and drone activity linked to regional conflicts.

Pakistan also reiterated the need for restraint, urging all parties to avoid further escalation that could endanger civilian lives and regional stability.
