Pakistan Navy successfully tests surface-to-air-missile at sea

Rawalpindi— Pakistan Navy on Saturday conducted successful test of surface to air missile at sear, according to official.

According to ISPR, Pakistan Navy demonstrated its operational readiness and combat preparedness during a comprehensive exercise in the North Arabian Sea, highlighting advanced missile, unmanned and precision-strike capabilities in line with the evolving demands of modern naval warfare.

 

 The military’s media wing, the exercise featured the successful live firing of the LY-80(N) Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) from a Vertical Launching System at extended range, validating the long-range air defence capabilities of Pakistan Navy’s modern combat platforms. The missile accurately engaged and neutralized an aerial target, underscoring the force’s ability to counter airborne threats.

 

The drills also included the effective engagement of surface targets using Loitering Munition (LM), demonstrating precision-strike capability in maritime operations. ISPR said the LM successfully destroyed designated targets, highlighting its role in contemporary naval combat scenarios.

 

In a major technological milestone, Pakistan Navy conducted open-sea trials of an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV), marking a significant advancement in autonomous maritime systems. The trials validated the vessel’s high-speed performance, maneuverability, precision navigation and resilience in challenging weather conditions. ISPR described the platform as a “low-risk, high-impact” asset capable of delivering stealth and tactical flexibility in future operations.

 

Commander Pakistan Fleet witnessed the exercise, which showcased the Navy’s ability to integrate advanced systems across multiple operational domains.

 

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), T Bt, commended officers and sailors for their professionalism and operational competence. He reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s resolve to ensure the seaward defence of the country and safeguard national maritime interests under all circumstances.

 

Defence analysts view the exercise as a reflection of Pakistan Navy’s increasing emphasis on networked warfare, air defence, precision strike and unmanned technologies as part of its broader modernization drive.
