Pakistan Issues Travel Advisory for Iran Amid Protests, Urges Nationals to Exercise Caution

By The South Asia Times

Islamabad — Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday issued a travel advisory urging Pakistani nationals to avoid all unnecessary travel to Iran, citing the deteriorating security situation following widespread protests in several Iranian cities.

In a statement released by the minitary, said the advisory was issued “for the safety and security” of Pakistani citizens in light of recent unrest, public demonstrations and reports of sporadic violence that have raised concerns about stability in parts of the country.

“Pakistani nationals are advised to avoid all unnecessary travel to Iran until conditions improve,” the statement said.

The ministry also urged Pakistanis currently residing in Iran to exercise extreme caution, remain vigilant, minimize non-essential movement and stay in close contact with Pakistan’s diplomatic missions. Citizens were advised to regularly update their status and follow local security advisories issued by Iranian authorities.

Background: Protests and Security Concerns

The advisory comes amid ongoing protests in multiple Iranian cities over political and economic grievances, with gatherings in urban centers occasionally leading to clashes, road blockades and temporary disruptions in transport and public services. While the demonstrations have varied in intensity across regions, the evolving situation has prompted several countries to review travel guidance for their nationals.

Officials in Islamabad said the advisory was a precautionary measure aimed at preventing Pakistani citizens from being exposed to potential risks stemming from the unrest.

Pakistan and Iran share close diplomatic and cultural ties, as well as a long border with significant cross-border movement for trade, religious travel and family visits. The Foreign Office stressed that the advisory does not affect official engagements but is focused solely on civilian safety.

The ministry said further updates would be issued as the situation develops and advised travelers to rely only on official communications for accurate information.
