Indonesia, Pakistan discuss stronger defense cooperation during naval chief's visit

ISLAMABAD - Indonesia and Pakistan have agreed to further strengthen military cooperation, including professional training, defence collaboration and joint exercises, during talks between their senior military officials, Pakistan's military said Monday.
Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali, Chief of the Indonesian Navy, met Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation.
Both officials expressed satisfaction with existing military-to-military relations and reaffirmed their intention to expand cooperation, particularly in professional training, defence collaboration and joint exercises.
Munir reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening what he described as the longstanding and brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia, with particular emphasis on defence and security cooperation.
Admiral Muhammad Ali praised the professionalism of Pakistan's armed forces and acknowledged their contribution to regional peace and stability, according to ISPR.
