Italy Offers Over 10,000 Jobs to Pakistani Workers Under New Labour Agreement

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD — Italy has offered more than 10,000 job opportunities to Pakistani workers over the next three years, following a bilateral agreement between the two countries, officials confirmed.

Under the labour quota arrangement, 10,500 Pakistani workers will be employed in a variety of sectors, including ship breaking, hospitality, healthcare, agriculture, welding, technical roles, chefs, waiters, housekeeping, nursing, medical technicians, and farming. Both skilled and semi-skilled workers will travel to Italy to fill these positions, according to daily Dawn.

Each year, 3,500 Pakistani workers will benefit from the scheme, with 1,500 under the seasonal quota and 2,000 under the non-seasonal quota.

This marks Italy as the first European country to allocate job quotas specifically for Pakistan, highlighting deepening economic and labour ties between the two nations.

Officials said the second meeting of the Pakistan-Italy Joint Working Group will take place in Islamabad in February 2026 to review progress and discuss further collaboration in labour mobility and employment opportunities.

The agreement is expected to boost employment prospects for Pakistani workers abroad and strengthen bilateral relations, providing opportunities in high-demand sectors while addressing Italy’s labour market needs.
