Pakistan’s FM Condemns US-Israel Strikes on Iran at SCO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in China

By The South Asia Times

TIANJIN, China, — Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, condemned last month’s attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran, calling them “unjustified” and “unacceptable” during his address at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Tianjin on Tuesday.

Dar criticized what he described as a growing pattern of aggression against SCO member states, stressing that the airstrikes against Iran, including on its nuclear facilities, were a violation of international norms.

“We have strongly condemned the unjustified and illegitimate aggression by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the US strikes on its nuclear facilities,” Dar said. “Such illegal actions directed against SCO member states are unacceptable.”

The SCO, a major Eurasian political and security alliance, includes China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, and Central Asian countries. The ministerial session serves as a lead-up to the SCO leaders’ summit later this year in Tianjin.

Dar also warned of a dangerous trend in international relations. “We are increasingly concerned at the use of aggression as a tool of policy,” he said, urging the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law
