KABUL - Afghanistan will observe Eid al-Fitr on Thursday, the Afghan government announced on Wednesday evening after the moon was sighted.
Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed that the Supreme Court of Afghanistan officially declared Thursday as the first day of the Islamic festival, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The announcement follows reports of moon sightings in several provinces, including Farah, Helmand, and Ghor. Afghan authorities urged citizens to celebrate the occasion in accordance with Islamic traditions.
