ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Friday that Pakistani forces have inflicted heavy losses on Afghan Taliban during an ongoing military campaign along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In an update posted on social media, Tarar said the operation, named “Operation Ghazab Lil Haq,” has so far resulted in 527 militants killed and more than 755 injured.

According to the minister, Pakistani forces destroyed 237 checkpoints and captured and demolished another 38 posts during the operation.

He added that about 205 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery guns were also destroyed.

Tarar said 62 locations across Afghanistan were targeted by air strikes as part of the ongoing campaign in the Kurram sector along the border.

Separately, Pakistani Security sources said the Pakistan Army carried out coordinated ground and air operations against Afghan Taliban fighters and militants described by Pakistani authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij.

The sources said heavy artillery fire struck several militant positions in the border region, destroying multiple posts.
