Five Soldiers Martyred in Kech IED Attack, Five Militants Killed in Operation

RAWALPINDI— Five Pakistan Army personnel, including a young captain, were martyred when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted security forces during a sanitization operation in Sher Bandi area of Kech district, Balochistan, on September 15, the military said on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), those who embraced martyrdom were identified as Captain Waqar Ahmed, 25, of Loralai; Naik Asmat Ullah, 35, of Dera Ghazi Khan; Lance Naik Junaid Ahmed, 29, of Sukkur; Lance Naik Khan Muhammad, 29, of Mardan; and Sepoy Muhammad Zahoor, 28, of Swabi.

Following the attack, security forces launched a clearance operation in the area. During the operation, five militants belonging to the group Fitna Al Hindustan, described by ISPR as an Indian proxy, were killed. The sanitization effort in the surroundings is continuing to track down any remaining militants.

“The sacrifices of our brave officers and soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said, reaffirming that Pakistan’s security forces, in step with the nation, remain committed to eradicating terrorism sponsored from abroad.
